The Pyramid of Giza around 1989: While I'd like to tell my kids that there Aunty Carol and I were riding that camel on my own, there is actually a mustached dude with a  cigarette holding a rope so the thing doesn't rip my leg off. Actually, I was surprised how laid back, 'non-stinky' and responsive the beast was. I am not sure if the picture gives the viewer the feeling just how high up one sits on these things, when compared to a horse, but you wouldn't want to fall off at a full run. My sister has the right idea for headgear.

Finally, the pyramid itself is unimaginably massive. See those little flecks on the pyramid? Those are massive blocks the size of a car, and at the base, the size of a cube van. There are people walking up the side of the structure but they are almost invisible in comparison. Egypt was an incredible experience, and for anybody interested in fantasy art, myth and magic, there is no comparison in the world fro history, ruins, and exoticness - except maybe India. I found, and brought home,  pottery shards form both 400 BC and 4000 BC. in some you can still see the thumb print of the dude who made the pottery.
