Painting an Angel
around 1992: In this old,
improperly exposed image, one can see me working on
a huge canvas. This is a rare shot as there are only
a handful of images of me working, ever, especially
way back in the early 1990s prior to digital
photography. Note the giant speaker next to my head
, probably blasting out punk music, the CBC news,
perhaps Enya or some other new age stuff that was
conducive to painting such subject matter.
also, note the palette I was using; a meat packing
tray, well cleaned, with another one to match. I
would spray mist the paints when done for the
session then place another tray onto it, strap them
together with elastics and then place the now
covered pallet in a dampened plastic bag. sometimes
I'd use the same acrylics for months, saving money,
allowing me to keep pre-mixed paint, and going
easier on the environment.
The painting shown here is rolled up someplace in my Kamloops
Studio.
