Baristas Starbucks Coffee,
Robson Street
around 1989: I have no idea who the barista on
the far left is, nor who took this picture, but I
think I handed my camera to a regular customer to
snap it. That's me on the right, wearing a tie
instead if one of the friggin' bow ties we were
supposed to wear. Next to me was my long time friend
and excellent co-worker, Layne Black, who is now a
comedian. She did a series of poems for an art show
at a cafe, and as I recall it, 80% of the favorable
comments in the comment book were praising her
poetry and not my early art. I also recall that some
assh*le wrote in the guest book that I would starve
as an artist if I did fantasy Art, some of which I
displayed at Cafe S'Il Vous Plait where the show was
held. Funny, I now make most of my money from
fantasy art and put food on the table for my family
with it.
